3 Ways to Treat Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Without Birth Control Pills – MIND, BODY and SPIRIT

Well, did your doctor give you some kind of birth control pill to treat your PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)? Did you have second thoughts before having it? Are you worried about its side effects? If yes, then read along and I’ll share my tips and tricks to treat this ailment without any sort of birth control pill.

PCOS – A Life-altering Hormonal Disorder

They say that PCOS is not a deadly disease and you need not worry about it because it can be “managed”. What they don’t tell you is that it ruins your daily routine, makes you look terrible to say the least, topples down your confidence and psychologically affects your decision-making power. Yes, that’s TRUE! You get affected in so many ways that you can’t even imagine. Honestly, now when I look back I think I made a few bad decisions of my life because of the hormonal imbalance that was going on inside my body. My thoughts and feelings were totally in control of this not-so-deadly yet life-altering disease. BUT thank God, I overcame it. Thank God somehow I managed to “manage” it. LOL.

In my previous post, I mentioned the symptoms of PCOS and how in the end everything worked out for me and I got pregnant. So, I am assuming you do know what the symptoms are and what are its causes but in case you don’t know, do check out the post (you can also check it out here What is PCOS?

Okay, so let me share what exactly I did to treat my PCOS. First off, let me tell you that it is not easy but it is not an unattainable target either. You just have to block all the negative feelings and focus. FOCUS like your life depends on it – and tbh, it does! So let’s start


Treat PCOS with the Power of your MIND

Once you understand that you have PCOS, you have to find the courage to accept the fact that your body needs some healing. It needs YOU. It needs you to fix all that has gone wrong over the past few years. Your will power is going to be your saviour. Although I know that initially it is extremely difficult to make up your mind to fight such an ailment but they say, “If you can’t run, crawl..”. Certain people, when diagnosed with PCOS, take it all very lightly. But it is not something that should be taken lightly because it’s like slow poisoning. So, you’ve got to pull up your socks and get to work ASAP!

Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you WILL heal yourself by taking care of your body. Tell yourself how precious a person you are to be put down by PCOS. Tell your friends and family that you WILL do whatever it takes to fight it. Take help from them if you can (I’ll tell you how later in the post).

Lastly, believe in yourself. Believe in the person that you are. Believe in your existence and how you too deserve to look the best, feel the best and make the perfect life you always wished for. You’ll have to remind yourself everyday that you CAN DO IT! That’s what I did and I managed to lose 33 pounds in 3 months! Let’s go on the second important part of the treatment strategy.

Treat PCOS by healing your BODY

Let me first tell you how I hated myself because of being obese. I had excessive facial hair, dull face, fat body, no energy and cherry on top, I had no social life. To be honest, it was the worst time of my life (only when you get out of it, you realize how pathetic your life really was). So, after the diagnosis, I started focusing on lifestyle changes. I did have a really bad lifestyle – no exercise, junk food addiction, no social life. I decided to put a stop on everything. Here’s the list of food I stopped eating:

  • Soft drinks
  • Fried food especially processed ones like hot dogs and sausages
  • Pasta 🙁
  • White bread
  • Bakery items
  • Chocolates and all sugary stuff 🙁
  • Basically everything delicious and made with white flour

Since I am a foodie, trust me avoiding all of these was perhaps the most difficult thing I have done in my life. LOL. Now I am sharing with you the list of food items I included in my daily diet:

  • Coconut Oil
  • Moringa Juice (more on this in the next post)
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Fish
  • Multi-grain bread
  • Vegetables especially broccoli, spinach, iceberg, lettuce, tomatoes and sweet potato
  • Fruits
  • Dark chocolate

After a month or so, I started noticing a change in my usual mood. I was positive about life and generally I felt good about myself too. That’s when I decided to add exercise in my daily routine. So, every day around 11 PM I would get ready and go for a walk/run. I would actually do HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and trust me that one hour would be THE BEST TIME OF MY DAY. It actually felt like I was not burning my calories rather I was sweating out all of my negative energies.

This routine with the meal plan I share with you in the last post, I started losing 1.5 pounds per week and that’s when I started getting healthy, that’s when my body started healing. I was at top of the world after three months because my PCOS symptoms were not there anymore!

Treat PCOS by listening to your Spirit

Whether you are a religious person or not, you must be knowing the importance of meditation. It relaxes you. It calms you down. That’s what it did for me! Every day in the morning around 5AM, I would meditate for thirty minutes. It cleared my mind and connected me to my body in ways that cannot be explained. There are different ways to meditate, I don’t know which method would suit you but my meditation was something very simple.

I have a small pond at my place with Koi fishes in it. I would put on my favourite music, place my feet in the pond and sit quietly for half an hour without touching my phone. Watching them swim in every direction gave me a sense of satisfaction – that it’s okay if I don’t have a direction of my life yet. I will find a way eventually..and what’s what I did. I found my way! A happy, healthy way of life full of positive energies and gratitude.
